A message from our founder

When we started Douglas Knowledge Partners in 2020, we set out to create a new category that drew on the best of our previous work with management consulting firms like McKinsey & Company, publishers like Harvard Business Review, and change-makers like the World Economic Forum. We defined our new firm as a knowledge partner consultancy with the aim of supporting organisations across all sectors to make a purpose-driven impact.

The Bertha Centre is the first academic centre in Africa dedicated to advancing social innovation and entrepreneurship. It was established as a specialised facility at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business in late 2011 in partnership with the Bertha Foundation, working with inspiring leaders who are catalysts for social and economic change and human rights.

Their mission is to pursue social impact towards social justice in Africa, through educating, researching, convening, catalysing, and advocating with a systems lens on social innovation.

Douglas Knowledge Partners and the Bertha Centre have partnered together for many years to create the Youth Innovation Prize as well as working together to create reports that speak to the mission of the Bertha Centre and pushing social innovation in South Africa.
